Man getting a botox treatmentAccording to figures from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a total of 7,056,255 Botox procedures were conducted in 2016. In 2015, over 6,750,000 Botox procedures were done. As the trend continues, more people are getting Botox year after year.

If this will be your first time to get a Botox in Salt Lake City, here are some of the things you should do first before your appointment:

Find the right doctor.

Like any other doctor, you should find a Botox specialist you can be comfortable with. Of course, you should be transparent with your Botox doctor. Tell them about yourself and your family’s medical history, so they can determine if you’re fit for the procedure. During your consultations, inform your doctor about your medications, allergies, illnesses, or diseases (if any) and if you’re pregnant or currently breastfeeding. It’s also important to inform them if you’re trying to get pregnant.

Avoid aspirins.

Prior to your appointment, avoid taking aspirins or any product containing aspirin. This will help you reduce the possibility of having bruises on the injection site. Similar medications like Motrin and other analgesic pain medicines should also be avoided. If you’re taking prescription medicines and you’re not sure if you can stop taking it prior to a Botox treatment, do talk to your doctor and your Botox doctor so they can work around your medicine schedule.

Plot for your recovery.

In Botox procedures, you need to allot time for recovery. Research on the do’s and don’ts of Botox during and after the procedure. For instance, you need to avoid strenuous activities after getting Botox. You should also avoid taking alcoholic drinks and refrain from getting facials and other similar types of skin treatments.

Preparation is the key to any successful endeavor. Keep these things in mind so you can come to your Botox appointment informed and prepared. These will not only help make the Botox procedure successful and pleasant, but will also help you recover fast.
